Evento VIE

Within the framework of the 195th session of the University–Business–State Committee of Santander (CUEES), the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research and Extension (VIE) presented the University’s strategic initiatives to strengthen research with regional impact.

The presentation was led by Vanessa Quiroga Arciniegas, Director of Knowledge Transfer, and Luz Nayibe Garzón, Director of Research and Extension of the Faculty of Sciences. They shared with business leaders and committee members the scope of the Research and Extension Strengthening Plan, focused on the axis “Science with purpose: R&D opportunities between University, Industry, and Territory.”

In this context, the University presented the call opportunities it offers to facilitate the involvement of the business sector in applied research processes and experimental development projects, with the aim of promoting initiatives that contribute to the well-being and competitiveness of the region.

According to Vanessa Quiroga Arciniegas, Director of Knowledge Transfer, one of the most notable aspects of the meeting was the positive response from the business sector to these initiatives. “The interest shown by business leaders was a pleasant surprise; they highly valued the University’s commitment, especially the resources allocated to promoting research in collaboration with the productive sector,” she stated.

She also highlighted that several business representatives expressed their intention to connect with research and extension directors from different academic units in order to establish strategic partnerships that would enable the development of joint proposals and high-impact projects.
