With the aim of continuing to strengthen higher education in Colombia from a territorial perspective, the Industrial University of Santander continues to lead the project Academic Communities that Transform Territories, an initiative of Colombia’s Ministry of National Education.
The first regional meeting will take place on April 16 and 17 at the UIS Floridablanca campus and will focus on the field of Arts and Humanities. This event will mark the beginning of a series of ten meetings to be held in different regions of the country, bringing together stakeholders from the academic, productive, governmental, and social sectors.
Phase II of the project is focused on building a territorial outlook for higher education provision in Colombia, based on dialogue and collective construction with academic communities by field of knowledge. Through these meetings, the goal is to generate inputs that will guide the design, adjustment, and strengthening of relevant academic programs, aligned with the needs and dynamics of the territories.

During the regional meetings, participants will have the opportunity to identify challenges and opportunities, contribute to the design of relevant academic programs, and develop proposals that help strengthen the country’s higher education system, promoting more flexible, inclusive education that is connected to the social and productive environment.
“This new phase of the project represents an opportunity to consolidate collaborative work between higher education institutions and different territorial stakeholders, in order to build a shared vision that will guide the future of higher education in Colombia based on regional realities,” said Professor Alexandra Cortés Aguilar, Head of Planning at UIS and General Director of the project.

With this initiative, the Industrial University of Santander reaffirms its commitment to the country’s educational development, leading processes that promote collaboration between academia and territories, and contributing to the transformation of higher education in Colombia.
