UIS student Andrés Felipe Jiménez del Río was selected to join an international youth orchestra that will participate in this major symphonic band event in Brazil.

The talent, discipline, and international reach of students at the Industrial University of Santander continue to shine on the global stage. On this occasion, Andrés Felipe Jiménez del Río, a student in the UIS Bachelor of Music program and a member of the Institutional Symphonic Band, was accepted into the WASBE Youth Wind Orchestra (WYWO) 2026, one of the most prominent international youth ensembles in the field of symphonic bands.

This achievement comes after meeting all the requirements of a rigorous international selection process, which demonstrates the institution’s high artistic and educational standards. The ensemble brings together outstanding young musicians from different countries, who will engage in an experience of training, cultural exchange, and musical excellence.

Furthermore, this type of participation strengthens the UIS’s academic and artistic programs by allowing its students to engage with highly demanding international contexts. Similarly, it highlights the impact of Colombian public education on the global stage.
