
The Master’s Degree in Microbiology is a mixed-funding research postgraduate program offered by the School of Microbiology, which is based in Bucaramanga, at the UIS Faculty of Health, and lasts four (4) academic semesters. Created by Academic Council Agreement 233 of 2015, it has a qualified registration resolution from the Ministry of National Education 023722 of December 10, 2021, and awards the title of Master in Microbiology.
It is supported by a faculty with doctoral and master’s degrees and extensive experience in the field, who have carried out important projects in the program’s different lines of research.
The program provides its students with theoretical and practical elements for the development of basic and applied research in different areas of microbiology through the implementation of new technological tools, using the scientific method to contribute to the generation of knowledge and the solution of problems related to the field at the regional, national, and international levels.
The areas of study offered by the Master’s Degree in Microbiology are: Clinical, Environmental, Industrial, Agricultural Microbiology, Immunology, and Biotechnology, while the possibility of other areas of knowledge currently being consolidated at the School of Microbiology remains open.
