A night of togetherness and celebration was held on the UIS central campus to mark the traditional Día de Velitas (Day of Little Lights). Family and friends gathered there to light their candles and enjoy this December celebration.

“It is a special night of joy, the UIS opens its doors to all neighbors and friends to celebrate Christmas. It is like sharing different ways of seeing life around a little light, a candle. The UIS always opens its heart and doors to welcome us, make us participants, and fill us with joy in a moment of celebration,” said Freddy Ramírez, UIS official.

The evening was enlivened by the Pasaporte Group, which got attendees dancing on Candle Day. This event is one of the most important during the Festival of Lights program, which began on December 1 and runs until the 11th.

“I think it’s really cool that they do this every year because it encourages people to come with their families, and it’s great that they bring music. This Day of Little Candles is special for sharing, having fun, and letting everyone bring out their inner child,” said Valeria Contreras Hernández, who spent time with her family at the UIS.
