Students strengthen their knowledge of AI implementation through data generation and analysis

Under the leadership of Le Wagon, a renowned international company specializing in immersive technology training, students from the UIS engineering programs in Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Systems participated in an open class to learn about successful experiences in data analysis and AI implementation.

The academic conference is part of the activities included in the technical cooperation project between the UIS, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Korea Technology Parks Association (KTPA) to strengthen IT capabilities in the department of Santander.

“We want to motivate students to understand much more about the application of their professions in the real, industrial, and academic context. The idea is that students also participate in these digital skills training sessions so that they can further strengthen the concepts they have already acquired at the University,” said Professor Lola Xiomara Bautista of the School of Systems Engineering and Computer Science.

This ambitious cooperation project also aims to strengthen the capabilities of companies already established in the region that work daily on the development of information technology systems, which represents a great opportunity for young people who are currently training in digital skills at the University, either as employees of these companies or as future digital entrepreneurs. “This E-Tech will provide us with a lot of information, many courses, and a lot of support for students, and it will give us the tools to perform better and have a successful work experience,” said Juan José Rangel, a data science engineering student.

Le Wagon is an international bootcamp specializing in web development and data science that offers intensive training through courses in more than 45 cities around the world. This company was selected to promote the training component included in this major project. “We congratulate the Santander region because we have found extraordinary profiles. in fact, we have been very pleasantly surprised. I believe in Santander’s enormous potential for growth in terms of ICT. There is a huge opportunity for training and also for strengthening the ecosystem because they really have everything they need: the resources, the facilities, the infrastructure, and the teaching staff. I think they are taking the right steps,” said Sebastian Buffo Sempé, vice president and co-founder of Le Wagon Latin America.
