The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), through the School of Mathematics and the Research Group on Mathematics Education (EDUMAT), announced the results of the Qualifying Test of the XIV UIS Mathematics Olympiad for Primary 2025, an outreach project that year after year strengthens children’s love for mathematics across the country.
In this edition, a total of 13,501 third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students from 315 educational institutions in 95 municipalities across 16 departments of Colombia accepted the challenge of testing their mathematical talent. Of these, 2,305 qualified for the Selective Test, which will take place next Thursday, October 16, in person at each participating school.

A noteworthy aspect of this call was the participation of 932 students from regions such as Arauca, Guainía, Guaviare, Vaupés, and Vichada, of whom 136 advanced to the next stage.
“With this initiative, UIS contributes to improving the quality of mathematics education at the primary level, promotes civic competencies, and provides teachers with a space for reflection on the teaching of this science,” said Jorge E. Gómez Ríos, coordinator of the UIS Mathematics Olympiad.
The organizing committee also highlighted the commitment of families, teachers, and schools that made this first phase possible. “Participating is already a significant achievement. We encourage all students to continue practicing and enjoying mathematics, because perseverance and curiosity are the true path to knowledge,” they expressed.
UIS reiterated that these Olympiads are free of charge and represent a solidarity-based project with great national impact, supported by the Rector’s Office, the Academic and Administrative Vice Rector’s Offices, the Faculty of Sciences, the Office of Admissions and Academic Records, the Institute for Regional Outreach and Distance Education, and the School of Mathematics.
The full list of qualified students can be found in the attached documents and on the official UIS Mathematics Olympiad platforms.
