Professor of the School of Physical Therapy participated in a seminar on rehabilitation of people with lower limb amputations

Professor Lyda Maritza Díaz Plata, attached to the School of Physiotherapy, participated in the seminar on rehabilitation in people with lower limb amputations, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (physical rehabilitation program) and the Colombian Association of Faculties of Physiotherapy – ASCOFAFI, with the support of the National Learning Service SENA, the Rehabilitation Center CIREC, and aimed at professors of universities linked to ASCOFAFI.

The objective of Professor Lyda’s participation was to reinforce her knowledge on the rehabilitation of the person with lower limb amputation to the different faculties of physiotherapy registered to ASCOFAFI.

The guiding team consisted of five physiotherapists, an orthoprosthetist, a psychologist, a physiatrist, and for the development of the practical part, 4 people with lower limb amputation were assisted.

For the Northeastern Node, the seminar was attended by professors Lyda Maritza Díaz Plata, from the Physiotherapy program of the UIS and Diana Marcela Ortega from the University of Pamplona, who will replicate this seminar to professors and students of Physiotherapy in the region, contributing to increase the number of Physiotherapists who fully understand the general characteristics of the rehabilitation process in people with limb amputations in order to allow them an effective social inclusion process.
