The award, which recognizes the academic and clinical excellence of future medical professionals in Colombia, was held on Friday, August 1, in Cali.
The ceremony was attended by the president of ASCOFAME, Dr. Lina María Vera Cala, who presented the award to the winner.
During the event, the effort, dedication, and performance of the 12 national finalists were recognized. They were selected as the best interns from each of the six regions of the country after a rigorous written evaluation and a national ECOE. The ECOE Observation activity, “ECOE Evaluation Clinic: a critical observatory for improving assessment,” which brought together regional experts in clinical simulation and members of the National Clinical Simulation Committee, aimed to enrich the assessment process, promote academic reflection on competency assessment, and demonstrate the application of the ECOE guidelines recently launched by ASCOFAME in a real-world context.
Among the regional finalists, the participation of UIS medical student Darlyn Dayana Castillo Díaz stands out.
This event continues to consolidate simulation-based assessment as a key strategy for strengthening the quality of medical education in Colombia and constitutes a national benchmark in the development of rigorous, innovative assessment processes aligned with international standards.
The event also provided an opportunity to recognize the regional winners and highlight the impact of this initiative on the assessment of clinical competencies at the national level.
Congratulations to all participants!
