The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) received a favorable assessment for maintaining its Quality Management System certification under the NTC ISO 9001:2015 standard, following the external follow-up audit conducted by the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC).

During the audit closing session, lead auditor Oscar Julián Porras, together with Jim Alexander Moreno and the team of expert evaluators, highlighted the institution’s progress, the coordinated efforts of its different units, and the opportunities for improvement that will further strengthen management focused on continuous improvement and the ongoing enhancement of its processes.

Oscar Julián Porras, ICONTEC lead auditor, highlighted the overall results at the conclusion of the audit:

“The overall assessment is very positive, based on the audit findings. Among the findings, there was nothing of a major nature that would prevent us from giving an informal assessment in favor of maintaining the institution’s certification”.

ISO 9001:2015 Standard

The external audit verified compliance with the requirements established by the ISO 9001:2015 standard, an international benchmark for quality management that promotes process efficiency, evidence-based decision-making, and stakeholder satisfaction.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in this process: the quality team, the professionals who participated in the audits, and those who, from the different campuses, have responsibly taken on these processes, which are so important for the institution. These audits provide us with a technical and external perspective on how we are doing things and allow us to strengthen continuous improvement, because there are always opportunities to move forward with greater precision and quality,” said Cristian Blanco Tirado, UIS Vice President for Research and Outreach.

With this favorable assessment, the University reaffirms its commitment to consolidating increasingly robust and efficient institutional management focused on excellence, while strengthening a culture of quality across its strategic, core, evaluation, and support processes.
