With the aim of guiding students through the health service portability process and facilitating access to healthcare when they are outside the municipality where they normally receive medical attention, Student Welfare will launch the “Portability Route.”
The initiative is aimed at students whose health services are assigned to healthcare networks in other regions of the country. Through an activity coordinated with the Information and Communications Technology Directorate (DTIC) and held at CENTIC, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and complete the process online starting at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31.
According to Decree 1683 of 2013, portability guarantees members of Colombia’s General Social Security Health System access to healthcare services in any municipality across the country when they temporarily move away from the location where they normally receive medical care.
This guidance is particularly important for students from other regions who may require healthcare services during their stay in Bucaramanga. For this reason, Student Welfare seeks to promote portability as a preventive tool that enables students to have access to a healthcare pathway suited to their needs.
A Route That Also Promotes Comprehensive Well-Being
The program includes different activities aimed at strengthening student well-being. On September 3, the session “Releasing Tension Before Exams” will take place. This educational space will focus on the relationship between mental well-being and academic well-being, with the support of psychologist Juan David del Toro.

Later, on September 8, the “Foráneo: Portability Awaits You” activity will be held. The event will raise awareness among students about the importance of completing this process as a preventive action and a way of taking care of their health.
Through these initiatives, Student Welfare continues to create spaces for guidance and support that contribute to the comprehensive well-being of the university community, while providing students with tools to learn about and exercise their rights regarding healthcare.
