The Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences awarded honorable mentions to professors Óscar Fernando Herrán Falla and Alberto Ángel Martín, affiliated with the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, in recognition of their academic and scientific contributions in the fields of nutritional epidemiology, dietetics, and omics.
The School of Health highlights the honors awarded by the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences to two professors from the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, whose careers reflect the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, scientific research, and the advancement of the nutritional sciences.
Professor Óscar Fernando Herrán Falla received an Honorable Mention in recognition of his excellence in the field of nutritional epidemiology, a fundamental area for understanding the determinants of diet and nutrition in populations, generating scientific evidence, and guiding public health strategies.
For his part, Professor Alberto Ángel Martín, director of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics at the UIS, was awarded an Honorable Mention for his career in the field of dietetics and nutrition as applied to the omics sciences—a research area that integrates knowledge from genomics, metabolomics, and other disciplines to advance toward a more precise understanding of the interactions between diet, metabolism, and health.
The awards were granted by the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences, chaired by Dr. Javier Aranceta Bartrina, an institution that recognizes academic and scientific contributions to the advancement of nutrition and food sciences worldwide.
