The School of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Industrial University of Santander ranked first nationally in the 2025 Saber Pro exams, out of 37 institutions evaluated, establishing itself as a benchmark for academic excellence in Colombia. The program achieved an overall score of 177 points and simultaneously ranked first in all five generic competencies evaluated by ICFES: Civic Competencies (182), Written Communication (168), English (187), Critical Reading (193), and Quantitative Reasoning (177).
This result demonstrates the program’s ability to train professionals with balanced strengths across all academic, scientific, and human dimensions evaluated by Saber Pro. It also reflects the strength of an educational model grounded in the integration of teaching, research, outreach, and community service—essential pillars of the comprehensive education promoted by the UIS.
The School’s director, Professor Alberto Ángel Martín, noted that “this national recognition is the result of the ongoing commitment of faculty, students, alumni, and administrators to academic quality, pedagogical innovation, and social responsibility. Highly qualified faculty, the cultivation of critical thinking, educational research, and the development of scientific and human competencies have enabled us to establish a leading program in the country.”
For her part, the academic coordinator, Professor Martha Lucía Cáceres Jerez, emphasized that this achievement “confirms that academic excellence is not a matter of chance, but rather a reflection of a university community committed to training professionals of integrity who are critical thinkers and capable of responding to contemporary challenges in health, food, and public nutrition.”
In particular, the school expresses its deep gratitude to the Saber UIS team for their support, guidance, and strengthening of students’ academic competencies, contributing significantly to this important institutional result. Likewise, it recognizes and congratulates the students and graduates of the Class of 2025, who, through their dedication, discipline, and commitment, made this historic achievement possible for the Industrial University of Santander.
This significant achievement positions the Industrial University of Santander as one of the country’s leading institutions in health sciences education and reaffirms the impact of quality public education on social transformation, regional development, and the building of a better country. The UIS academic community celebrates this recognition as a collective achievement that strengthens the institution’s prestige and motivates us to continue working toward public higher education characterized by excellence, social commitment, and a vision for the future.
