Yellow fever is an infectious disease, preventable by vaccination, which is transmitted to humans by infected vectors, mainly of the genus Aedes and Haemagogus. This disease is endemic in tropical regions of Latin America and Africa, and has no specific treatment.

According to the latest epidemiological bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, dated April 20, 2025, the number of yellow fever deaths and infections in Colombia has increased. To date, 56 cases have been detected, of which 23 have died.

The increase in the number of infections has increased and has alerted several areas of the country where most of the cases have been detected. The figures reveal that the outbreak has had a considerable increase compared to the data for the year 2024.
