Last Saturday, May 17, the Specialized Health Unit of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, UISALUD, held the Health Fair “UISALUD: Take care of your health, activate your wellness and connect with your mind”, a comprehensive day of wellness, recreation and training.

The activity was aimed at all the unit’s collaborators and its purpose was to generate a space for wellness and recognition, in which participants could learn more about UISALUD’s programs and services through recreational activities, while highlighting the importance of collaborative work and the value of each role within the organization.

The day began with a session of rumbaterapia, followed by a tour of different stands where, through games, participants learned about key aspects of institutional policy, the Humanization Program, the importance of quality in services and other key issues. This was followed by a Tai Chi class focused on the mind-body connection, and a closing conference on teamwork and unity.

One of the most significant moments of the day was the official launch of UISALUD’s Humanization Program, led by Dr. Heide Cáceres, the unit’s deputy administrative and financial director. In her speech, she socialized the general guidelines of the program, which aims to ensure person-centered care with a differential approach, recognizing the multiple dimensions of the human being (physical, emotional, psychological, social and intellectual), in order to improve the quality of life and well-being of members, their families and the UIS community.

“We want to remember that behind each of our users there is a story, and that we are part of it. This day allows us to recognize our competencies and our commitment to humanized and quality service,” said Dr. Cáceres.

The program includes strategies such as the comprehensive characterization of affiliates, overcoming access barriers, care with a differential approach and training in assertive and humanized communication. It will also promote the continuous improvement of the local conditions and the physical environment in the provision of health services.

The program proposes actions aimed at getting to know the affiliated population better, overcoming access barriers, strengthening assertive communication skills among collaborators, and improving service spaces to provide warmer, more humane and satisfactory experiences.

Luisa Ortiz, a UISALUD employee and participant in the activity, said: “UISALUD Humanízate is to have a sense of belonging, to take care of what we have and to have a UISALUD forever. This integration activity strengthens the bonds between colleagues and reminds us of the importance of working together for the wellbeing of all our users”.

With this activity, UISALUD reaffirms its commitment to the physical and emotional well-being of its collaborators, and takes a firm step in the implementation of humanized care, which recognizes and values each person as the center of the service.
