UIS professor receives national nomination for scientific contributions in rare diseases

Angie Sidney Naranjo García, professor in the Department of Basic Sciences, Physiology area, PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences, and member of the UIS-UPB Neuroscience and Behavior research group, was nominated as a researcher in the category “Innovation, research, and scientific contributions in rare diseases” at the second FECOER awards gala.

Her research career has focused on the study of Myasthenia Gravis in Colombia, approaching this orphan disease from a comprehensive physiological perspective. Her work analyzes the alteration of voluntary muscle function characteristic of the pathology, as well as the autonomic and emotional regulation components associated with the clinical condition.

Through the collection and analysis of clinical data in the Colombian population, her research has contributed to the generation of national scientific evidence, strengthening knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms and systemic manifestations of Myasthenia Gravis in the local context.
