The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), at its Málaga campus, delivered the items requested by students in a petition submitted to Rector Hernán Porras. The institutional management made it possible to fulfill 100% of the requirements outlined in the document, consolidating an effective dialogue process between the Rector’s Office and the university community.
Among the main requests was the installation of a water dispenser at the temporary facilities, as well as the incorporation of larger, higher-quality televisions in classrooms to improve academic conditions, and new computers to strengthen access to technological tools that support the development of educational activities.
“We are seeing the rector’s actions in listening to what we demanded. The resources, such as computers to better follow our classes, are great. I think it’s excellent that the rector is making his presence felt,” said Yaritza Delgado, a basic cycle student.
In what student representatives described as record time, the purchase and distribution of the equipment was completed. The items will be strategically placed according to the needs identified at each temporary facility. In addition, the Rector’s Office included the acquisition of classroom fans and the purchase of blinds requested by students, contributing to greater comfort in learning spaces.

According to student spokespersons, the petition was fully complied with. The only pending items are the installation of custom-made blinds for classroom windows and the arrival of study tables for the hall at the Polytechnic campus, both of which are currently in the manufacturing process.
“We are very happy because our voices were truly heard and the requested items were delivered. We are grateful to Engineer Hernán Porras and to the students who made their voices heard,” said Brayan Felipe Hernandez, representative to the IPRED Council.
As part of an institutional policy based on dialogue and collaborative work, the Rector’s delegate, Coordinator Sandra Díaz, and student representatives visited each classroom to report on the fulfillment of the commitments made.
“The delivery of this equipment is very positive. We received an efficient response to the dialogue we had during the student assembly, providing timely solutions to the needs we have as university students,” stated Wilson Rodriguez, a Chemical Engineering student.
Likewise, Architect Pascual Cortés, head of the new campus project, invited the student community to participate in the technical tours scheduled every Tuesday. These sessions allow participants to learn firsthand about the progress of the construction, the quality of materials, and the level of detail applied in the development of the different areas that will soon provide greater well-being and optimal conditions for professional education at UIS Málaga.
