With the aim of sharing music, Colombian culture, and the emotion of choral singing on international stages, the Santander-based ensemble, which includes several graduates of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), continues its artistic tour through the neighboring country.
Participation in the event “As Vozes da Colômbia no Brasil – Coro Crescendo” as well as in the 37th International Choral Gathering of Cabo Frio 2026 and in choral training workshops at venues such as the Rio do Sul Cultural Foundation, have been part of this international journey.
“For the Choir, it means that it is still possible to dream through music, thanks to all the trust we see placed in us, both by government institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and by all the people who supported us in getting here. It also means that Santander’s choral music and tradition can go very far through artistic ensembles like ours, which strive to dignify our own culture through our love for art. It represents tremendous growth for us, and it is an honor to represent our city and our country,” said Maestro Sebastián Andrés Ibarra Molina, the Choir’s musical director.
Crescendo with the UIS Distinction
Twenty-two professionals and students from different disciplines make up Coro Crescendo, including business administrators, psychologists, audiovisual arts graduates, musicians, teachers, surgical technologists, and environmental, civil, electrical, and systems engineers, as well as graduates in languages.
The imprint of the Universidad Industrial de Santander is represented by graduates Yesid Fernando Gutiérrez Martínez, Cristhian Mauricio Mc Nish Fajardo, Pedro Alejandro Romero Jiménez, Pedro Alejandro Medina Ramos, Bayron José Ibarra Ballesteros and Germán Francisco Gutiérrez Mogollón. Also part of the group is Ricardo Andrés Serrano Peñaloza, a Music graduate from UNAB, who began his musical training through the extension courses offered by the UIS School of Arts.
Crescendo at the Festival Coral de Santander
Following the completion of its tour of Brazil, Coro Crescendo will participate in the 21st edition of the Festival Coral de Santander, which will take place from October 6 to 10 at the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo of the Universidad Industrial de Santander.
“Coro Crescendo has been greatly influenced by Maestro Juan Manuel Hernández Morales and the Coral Universitaria UIS, given that the artistic director of this iconic ensemble has been the principal mentor of the director of Coro Crescendo. This process has also fostered a friendship that allows for continuous feedback on our work. It is also important to mention that the organization of the Festival Coral de Santander by the Coral UIS is one of the settings that most motivates us to continue growing, so that we can share in our own city and our own home all our artistic work and our love for music. Thanks to their efforts to keep such an important space alive, we too have the opportunity to showcase who we are artistically and as human beings” said Maestro Ibarra Molina.
