The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) welcomes academic peer reviewers appointed by Colombia’s National Accreditation Council (CNA) as part of the accreditation renewal processes for its Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Spanish Language Education and its PhD in Chemical Engineering.

UIS President Hernán Porras Díaz, together with university administrators and staff, attended the opening of this external evaluation process in the President’s Boardroom. The event included the formal introduction of each member of the review teams and a presentation of the university’s progress in addressing the mission-driven challenges posed by modern society, through an institutional video.

These visits provide an opportunity to showcase the strengths and recent developments of both undergraduate and graduate programs, while also identifying areas for improvement that support UIS’s commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive student education.

Evaluation at Two UIS Locations

The visit for the Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Spanish Language Education is taking place at the Main Campus, with academic peer reviewers Catalina Campuzano Rodríguez, serving as review team coordinator, and Ángela María Merchán Basabe conducting the program evaluation.

Meanwhile, the evaluation of the PhD in Chemical Engineering is being held at the Guatiguará Technology Park (PTG). The review team includes Javier Mauricio Naranjo Vasco, team coordinator; Siby Inés Garcés Polo, academic peer reviewer; and Juan Raúl Quijada Abarca, international peer reviewer.

The President’s Boardroom hosted the CNA academic peer reviewers.

Olga Lucía Uribe Enciso, director of the School of Languages, shared her expectations for the CNA visit: “The goal is to renew the accreditation of the degree program, which received its first accreditation in 2020 for a six-year period. We are now aiming for ten years. This is an ongoing improvement process designed to provide our graduates with benefits in student mobility and employability.”

Throughout the week, UIS administrators responsible for each academic program will present the work carried out and guide the reviewers on visits to the respective facilities.
