With the participation of students, professors, and university administrators, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) launched U26 Fest: United for the Territories this Monday. The initiative brings together a range of academic, scientific, cultural, and community engagement experiences throughout the week.
This edition was organized by the Faculties of Physicochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Human Sciences as part of an interdisciplinary effort to connect knowledge from different fields and strengthen the University’s relationship with the needs and realities of the territories.
A Week to Learn, Share, and Look Ahead
Activities began with ‘Cátedra UIS’, a space for first-semester students featuring guest speaker Camilo Rueda, who delivered the lecture “Influence, Impact, and 360° Engagement.” The talk encouraged young people to make the most of their time at the University and reflect on their role as citizens.
The program will continue through October 2 with undergraduate and graduate student research presentations, academic group meetings, challenges, cultural activities, and different university experiences designed to promote knowledge sharing and showcase some of the work being carried out at UIS.
An Experience for Everyone
Sandra Judith García Vergara, Dean of the Faculty of Physicochemical Engineering, invited the entire UIS community to take part in the event:

Take the time to enjoy the activities, check the schedule published on our website, and give yourselves the opportunity to attend even those activities that may not immediately catch your attention. You may be surprised.”
“I really like UFest because it is an activity that involves students from all degree programs and encourages us to attend talks, games, and practical activities. We are currently at the ‘Influence, Impact, and 360° Engagement’ talk, and the speaker has a great attitude and keeps the session engaging. It is something different from our classes, and it gives us a chance to take a break from the academic demands we face every day,” said Camila Niño, an Industrial Engineering student.
