The Satellite Library, located on the top floor of the Student Welfare building at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), has reopened its doors to the university community. This space will be coordinated by student assistants and has a special collection dedicated to mental health care, in line with the commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day.

“This library brings together more than 200 books focused on personal growth and strengthening mental health. Among them are works by authors such as Rafael Santandreu, Marco Aurelio, and Walter Riso, among others,” explained Luis Miguel Pirateque Barrera, a student assistant.

The service offers consultation and quick loan of books, with the aim of facilitating access to this literary genre. “The space is open Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The student assistants are available to assist you. Those who wish to borrow a book need only present their ID card and institutional code; they can then keep it for eight days,” added Pirateque Barrera.

The students celebrated the reopening of this library, highlighting that it provides them with a nearby place to read, especially after passing through the university cafeteria.

“It’s nice to have this space again to enjoy reading here at Bienestar. We can relax after lunch with a good book,” said Gabriela Quintero, an industrial engineering student.

They also highlighted the value of the available collection and expressed their interest in having it renewed periodically to access new works and international authors.

“It’s great to have this space again. You walk by, see the books, and feel motivated to read them. I’m drawn to the authors that are there now, and I’m eager to see the next collection,” said Edwar Cristancho, also an industrial engineering student.
