
In a day that sets the tone for state higher education, the ordinary session of the National Council of Rectors of the State University System (SUE) was held this Monday at the University of Pamplona, establishing itself as a strategic forum to define the direction of the country’s public institutions.
The meeting brings together the sector’s leading voices, including the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Ricardo Moreno Patiño, the President of SUE, Jairo Torres Oviedo, and the rectors of state higher education institutions, who are participating in an agenda focused on high-impact decisions for the university system.
Representing the Industrial University of Santander, Administrative Vice-Rector Gerardo Latorre Bayona attended, joining discussions aimed at strengthening institutional management and inter-university cooperation.

From the city of Pamplona, the Council seeks to coordinate strategies that address the current challenges of the sector, with an emphasis on enhancing academic quality, expanding inclusion, and ensuring institutional sustainability. The deliberations could lead to new lines of cooperation, adjustments in investment priorities, and proposals to reduce regional gaps in access to higher education.
