With the forum for the candidates for student representation to the Consejo Académico held at the campus central, the series of meetings with members of the university community from the sedes regionales and the metropolitan area comes to an end.
At the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo, students learned about the candidates’ proposals and the reasons why they are running to represent them before the highest academic authority of the Universidad Industrial de Santander for the 2026–2028 term.
Through these forums, students have the opportunity to learn firsthand the candidates’ responses to the concerns they hope will be addressed once they become representatives, as well as questions arising from their proposals. These questions were asked either in person or through communication platforms for those participating virtually.
Juan Andrés Martínez Piraquive, a Philosophy student, commented on the forums: “I believe these spaces should continue to be organized. The University should keep guaranteeing them and even strengthen them.”
Likewise, Ingrid Tatiana Fuentes, a Social Work student, stated: “I think it is very important that the University creates these kinds of spaces because they allow us to connect with the candidates who will ultimately represent us in the future.”
It should be recalled that through Resolution No. 0110 of February 2, 2026, this process was called, which will conclude this Thursday, March 19, with online voting taking place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Cristian Díaz Franco, a Systems Engineering student, and Ciro Ernesto Pérez Vargas, a Philosophy student, are the candidates for the election of the student representative to the Consejo Académico. The results of the process will be announced at approximately 4:06 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, after the vote count is completed.
