The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) is currently hosting a visit from academic peers appointed by the National Accreditation Council (CNA). This visit is part of the external evaluation process.
The process aims to renew the high-quality accreditation of the Electrical Engineering program and the Master’s in Systems and Computer Engineering program.
During the visit, which is taking place from March 18 to 20 in Bucaramanga, the evaluators are conducting a comprehensive review of academic, research, and administrative conditions as part of the mechanisms that ensure quality in higher education in Colombia.
Academic calendar and institutional participation
In accordance with the established schedules, the visit includes a rigorous academic agenda featuring meetings with university administrators, faculty, students, alumni, and employers, as well as tours of laboratories, libraries, and other institutional facilities.
During the three-day evaluation period, the peer reviewers examine key processes such as program self-evaluations, outcomes achieved, and improvement plans implemented following previous accreditations.

The process also includes an analysis of the curriculum, research, outreach, institutional well-being, and engagement with national and international communities. These are key elements for assessing the quality and relevance of academic programs.
In addition, spaces for direct dialogue with the university community will be created. These allow evaluators to understand the perspectives of students and graduates. They also help assess the impact of education on the workforce.
At the end of the visit, the academic peers will present a preliminary report to the University’s leadership. This report will serve as input for the CNA’s final decision on accreditation renewal.
Through this process, UIS continues to strengthen its position as an institution with high-quality academic standards. It also reinforces its role as one of the country’s leading higher education institutions.
