Starting This Monday: Registration of Candidates for the Committee on Human Rights and Conciliation

Starting Monday, November 10, the registration period opens for professors hired under the occasional or adjunct (cátedra) modality—including tutors—and for administrative staff employed as public servants who are interested in applying and participating in the election process for the representation of the aforementioned groups before the UIS Committee on Human Rights and Conciliation.

Applicants must register by sending an email, preferably from their institutional account, to the Office of the Secretaría General (sgeneral@uis.edu.co). In this communication, they must expressly and freely state their intention to register as a candidate and attach a color photograph sized 3 x 4 cm.

In this regard, applicants must meet the following requirements according to the representation they seek:

REPRESENTATIVE OF PROFESSORS HIRED UNDER THE OCCASIONAL OR ADJUNCT (CÁTEDRA) MODALITY, INCLUDING TUTORSDOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT AT REGISTRATION
Requirements • Be a professor hired under the occasional, adjunct, or tutor modality. • Not be on unpaid leave or under disciplinary suspension.• Letter expressing the intention to participate in the process. • 3 x 4 cm color photograph. 
REPRESENTATIVE OF ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
Be a public employee with an active employment relationship with Universidad Industrial de Santander. Not be on unpaid leave or under disciplinary suspension.

The Committee on Human Rights and Conciliation of Universidad Industrial de Santander has the following functions:

  • Advise and guide the university community regarding matters brought before the Committee on Human Rights and Conciliation.
  • Receive, process, and follow up on complaints or reports from members of the university community concerning violations of fundamental rights and related regulations.
  • Seek conciliatory solutions in conflict situations among members of the university community.
  • Mediate with public authorities to ensure respect for the human rights of university community members.
  • Promote and recommend training, outreach, and research activities in human rights.
  • Propose amendments to university regulations.
  • Periodically inform the university community about the Committee’s management and activities.
  • Disseminate to the university community the actions and recommendations issued by the Committee on Human Rights and Conciliation regarding the protection and monitoring of human rights.

Election Schedule:


November 10
Start of the candidate registration period.

November 14
End of the candidate registration period at 4:00 p.m.

November 19
Verification of candidates’ eligibility requirements by the Office of the Secretaría General.

December 3
Online voting from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through the university’s website. The vote count will take place at 4:06 p. m.
