Sign up for the Pre-Congress on Territorial Prospective and let’s build the Santander 2050 vision.

A space to build Santander’s vision for the future

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS), with institutional support from ProSantander and the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce, invites the entire community to participate on November 20, 21, and 22, in the Pre-Congress on Territorial Prospective, a strategic space for reflection and collective construction that will bring together young people, academic leaders, business leaders, and union leaders around a common purpose: to project the future of the department from a comprehensive, participatory, and sustainable perspective.

This meeting is part of the Santander Prospective Vision SVP2050 project, an initiative led by the UIS under the direction of Rector Hernán Porras Díaz. Over the last few months, the project has traveled throughout the Santander region to listen to the voices of its inhabitants, understand their realities, and consolidate a shared vision for development.

Santander Vision 2050: a project connected to the region

For more than two months, Santander Visión Prospectiva 2050 has been working to identify opportunities, challenges, and aspirations within communities. Through regional dialogues and participatory spaces, the project has gathered perceptions and dreams that will enable the creation of a roadmap based on local knowledge and the aspirations of different stakeholders in the region.

The Pre-Congress, which will be held at the UIS central campus in Bucaramanga, will feature a broad and diverse academic agenda designed to analyze the social, economic, technological, and environmental transformations that will shape Santander’s course in the coming decades. The event will include panel discussions, keynote speeches, and spaces for citizen participation that will enrich this strategic thinking scenario

Academic agenda with national and international experts

Among the national and international guests are:

  • Gustavo Britto, professor and researcher at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).
  • César Giraldo, co-director of the Banco de la República.
  • Víctor Raúl Castillo, CEO of the International Hospital of Colombia – FCV.
  • Juan Carlos Rincón, executive president of the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce.
  • Rafael Marín Valencia, executive president of ProSantander.

Representing the Industrial University of Santander will be rector Hernán Porras Díaz; Amado Guerrero, co-director of the SVP2050 project; as well as vice-rectors, deans, professors, and representatives from the department’s productive and social sectors.

The UIS leads regional dialogue towards a sustainable and competitive Santander

Santander Visión Prospectiva SVP2050 aims to build a shared vision of the future for the region, identifying emerging challenges, strategic opportunities, and lines of action that promote competitive, equitable, and sustainable development. Its essence lies in citizen participation, integrating the voices of farmers, young people, entrepreneurs, social leaders, and institutional actors in a dialogue process that gathers their expectations and proposals for Santander in 2050.

Notable milestones in the process include the workshops held in the provinces of García Rovira, Guanentá, Comunera, and Vélez, where the community actively participated in developing key ideas and visions for the final document.

With this Pre-Congress, the UIS reaffirms its role as a liaison between academia, institutions, the private sector, and communities. This space will fuel the debates and proposals that will be part of the 2050 Territorial Prospective Congress, a forum where conclusions and strategic commitments will be presented to define the path toward a more prosperous and sustainable Santander.

The Industrial University of Santander extends an invitation to the academic community, union leaders, businesspeople, students, and the media to participate in this space for analysis and projection of the Santander of tomorrow.
