A delegation from the Professional School of Civil Engineering at the Catholic University of San Pablo in Arequipa, Peru, visited the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) as part of an academic mission aimed at exchanging knowledge and experiences. During the visit, representatives from both institutions shared the progress made by their research groups and laid the groundwork for an agreement to promote student and faculty mobility.
“It has been a wonderful experience. This delegation is visiting us with the aim of establishing an agreement, as well as participating in a packed agenda of presentations and talks that strengthen the bond between our schools, with a view to future academic and scientific exchanges,” said Miller Salas, director of the UIS School of Civil Engineering.
The visiting delegation expressed its satisfaction with the technological advances and high level of research at the UIS School of Civil Engineering and expressed its enthusiasm for consolidating an alliance that promotes the exchange of knowledge.

“We are very comfortable here. This visit is an extension of previous collaborations with UIS professors at various academic events. We really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. When we return to Arequipa, we will work on finalizing agreements, dual degree programs, and mobility for professors and students,” said Mauricio León, director of the Professional School of Civil Engineering at the Catholic University of San Pablo.
During their stay, the visitors toured the UIS central campus, paying special attention to the structures and materials laboratories, where they learned about the processes, equipment, and methodologies used.
“I was struck by the way the processes are carried out here; although they are similar, the application is different. They even have laboratories that we don’t have at our university. This visit has been very practical and educational; I learned much more than I expected,” said Lith Esmelida Huamán, a civil engineering student at the Catholic University of San Pablo.
