As part of its strategies to promote internationalization and strengthen academic and scientific relationships, the School of Nutrition and Dietetics welcomed Professor Ana Laura Isabel de la Garza Hernández, a scholar from Monterrey, Mexico, recognized for her international research career and her role as a founding member of the International Nutrometics Network (RIN22).
Her visit took place during the 5th International Conference on Health and Life Sciences, an academic forum that brought together researchers, faculty, and professionals to reflect on contemporary challenges in health education, research, and innovation.
As part of the program, the visiting professor delivered the keynote address titled “Who Is the Human Person in the Age of Artificial Intelligence? Challenges for Health Education,” in which she addressed the implications of artificial intelligence for educational processes and the importance of preserving a humanistic, ethical, and person-centered education in the face of technological advances that are transforming the health sciences.
During her visit, the researcher also toured the university’s facilities, including the academic spaces and laboratories of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, with the aim of learning about its educational capabilities, infrastructure, and potential for developing academic and scientific cooperation initiatives.
The director of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, Professor Alberto Ángel Martín, highlighted the importance of this visit for strengthening internationalization efforts:
“This international academic exchange represented a valuable opportunity to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, share perspectives on the transformation of health education, and identify opportunities for academic and scientific collaboration. The participation of a researcher with a recognized international track record, involved in cooperation initiatives such as the International Nutrometomics Network (RIN22), helps broaden our research horizons and strengthen the School’s international profile.”
The School of Nutrition and Dietetics thus reaffirms its commitment to the internationalization of the curriculum, academic mobility, the exchange of experiences, and the consolidation of scientific cooperation networks as a strategy for strengthening academic quality, research, and the comprehensive education of its students.
