Teachers at the School of Mathematics received 20 newly remodeled offices, which have been upgraded with new flooring, air conditioning, improvements to the electrical and communications networks, and new furniture.
This delivery is in addition to last week’s delivery, in which teachers from the School of Chemistry and Physics, mainly, received 72 workspaces.
“I am very happy because we now have our own space. We were in some borrowed spaces during this year, and now the office is equipped with everything we need. There are places for books, libraries, as well as air conditioning and a whiteboard. We are very comfortable,” said Jenny Patricia Acevedo Rincón, a professor at the School of Mathematics.

The goal is to remodel a total of 128 rooms, so the remaining ones will be delivered soon and will also benefit the teachers at the School of Biology.
“The renovations are completely new. We worked on the infrastructure to provide greater comfort and, above all, privacy for the teachers, as they were previously wooden partitions. There are improvements in the electrical installations, data infrastructure, and air conditioning, which they did not have before,” explained Pascual Cortés Guarín, architect of the Physical Plant Division.
This brings the number of offices from 85 to 128, representing an increase of 50.59%. In Chemistry, the number increases from 21 to 34, in Physics from 24 to 30 locations, in Mathematics from 28 to 43, and in Biology from 12 to 21.
“This is very important because now I will be able to fully carry out my mission. It’s great that it’s bigger, I have a new board, new furniture, and this gives a better view for the university community,” said Michael Alexander Rincón Villamizar, professor at the School of Mathematics.

During the ceremony, there was a special moment thanks to Jorge Enrique Fiallo Leal, who was celebrating 28 years as a professor at the Industrial University of Santander and shared this moment with his current colleagues in management and at the School.
“This is something we have been waiting for as part of the policy to dignify public spaces and thus have offices that are so well equipped, with good ventilation and good conditions, and I am proud because I am celebrating 28 years as a tenured professor,” said the professor from the School of Mathematics.
These facilities are located between the first and third floors of the Lightweight Building of the Faculty of Sciences, and work is continuing there to deliver the remaining offices soon.
