The School of Law and Political Science of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) invites the academic community to participate in the eleventh session of the Low Maus Chair, entitled “Non-human sentient beings, animal liberation”. This event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, May 22, at 3:00 p.m. in the Human Sciences Agora.
This session will address the new approach to justice in the face of animal abuse, within the framework of Law 2455 of 2025. This legislation proposes significant changes in the classification of crimes against animals and seeks to promote greater knowledge about animal welfare, which is essential for the attention of cases of mistreatment.
Attendees will have the opportunity to listen and learn from two prominent speakers in the field. Carolina Lozada, veterinarian and animal welfare specialist, and Juan Miguel Torres, coordinator of the GELMA group, will share their experience and knowledge, enriching the dialogue on the defense and protection of non-human sentient beings.
