Nursing School students participated in the 29th International Seminar on Care, Leadership in Nursing: Transforming Care and Strengthening Health Systems.
The event was jointly organized by the Industrial University of Santander and the National University of Colombia.
The students presented their research entitled “Early detection of sepsis from clinical data using a machine learning model.” This research earned them the Florence Nightingale award for best research in the oral presentation category.
This work was developed by Professor Judy Ximena Ramos Garzón, from the School of Nursing, in an interdisciplinary project with a group of students and professors from Electronic Engineering, who developed a machine learning algorithm to predict sepsis early on.
