
The Chess and Field Tennis teams obtained new classifications for the UIS during this weekend in the Zonal of the Ascun University Games.
In the case of the sport-science, seven people qualified for the Regional of Tunja, highlighting that there was a champion in each modality disputed.
“Very proud and happy to represent the UIS again in the games, this year the team has had more preparation with intensive training to give the best, we have new teammates with higher level and the team is stronger,” said Xiomara Remolina, member of the Chess Team.
In field tennis, Santiago Galvis won the men’s singles title and Salomón Pinto and Santiago Valbuena were runners-up in doubles.

In 3×3 basketball, UIS is represented by two men’s teams. The first of them is in second place overall after six wins and one loss. Their last game will be this Monday at 9:00 p. m. against the combined B of the Universidad Santo Tomás.
The UIS second team has two victories, one against Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga and the other against Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, adding experience for the future.
This Monday at 8:20 p.m. they will finish their participation against Universidad de Santander B (Udes).
With this discipline ends the Zonal phase of the Ascun University Games, then the Regional will be held in Tunja, which will begin on May 11 and from there the cycle will end in the National to be held in October in Bucaramanga.
