
Being a mother or father who is the head of a household while pursuing a university degree involves significant academic, family, and financial responsibilities. For this reason, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), through its Student Welfare Office, has opened the 2026-II support grant application process for student mothers and fathers who are heads of household.
Applications will be open from August 19 to 23, during which interested students may apply in accordance with the established requirements.
Application Requirements
- Be a mother and/or father who is the head of a household.
- Provide the civil registration certificates of their children.
- Have the family household’s place of origin and residence located outside the Bucaramanga metropolitan area.
- Have successfully completed at least 11 academic credits.
- Have a cumulative weighted grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
- Have a tuition base amount no higher than half of the current legal monthly minimum wage (SMMLV).
- Be enrolled as a full-time student.
- Not receive any other benefit.
- Provide a valid lease agreement or proof of rental housing.

- Go to uis.edu.co.
- Go to Students / Student System.
- Log in using your student code, academic program, and password.
- Select the following path: University Student Welfare Services / Student Services / Benefits / Application for Support Grants for Mothers and Fathers Who Are Heads of Household.
On Thursday, September 3, the students who will ultimately receive the financial support will be determined.
Through initiatives such as this one, UIS strengthens its student welfare and retention strategies, providing support to students who, in addition to pursuing their academic education, have responsibilities as mothers or fathers who are heads of household.
