The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) received a delegate from the Consejo Nacional de Acreditación (CNA) at its Sede Málaga as part of the initial conditions assessment visit for the Zootecnia and Ingeniería Forestal programs. This visit represents an important step in evaluating their academic development and their potential to begin the high-quality accreditation process.
As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening quality and renewing its academic programs, the Universidad Industrial de Santander held a working session at Sede Málaga with the participation of César Darío Guerrero Santander, delegate of the Consejo Nacional de Acreditación (CNA), along with representatives from different areas of the University.
The visit was supported by the team from the Coordinación de Evaluación de la Calidad Académica (CECA), led by the Academic Vice President, Olga Álvarez Ojeda, together with Maritza Jaimes Garnica and María de los Ángeles Gutiérrez. Also participating were Javier Pinzón, Academic Deputy Director of the Instituto de Proyección Regional y Educación a Distancia (IPRED), and Deicy Delgado Díaz, Head of Technological Maintenance.
The main purpose of this initial conditions assessment visit was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the main results, achievements, impacts, and development of the Zootecnia and Ingeniería Forestal programs, taking into account the self-assessment and continuous improvement processes carried out by the academic community over recent years.
These processes have been led at Sede Málaga by the campus coordinator, Sandra Díaz López, and the academic coordinators Daniel Torres Ruda and Diego Suescún Carvajal, with the support of the teaching staff from both programs and the entire university community.
During the visit, the CNA delegate met with different stakeholders connected to the academic programs. Students, professors, business representatives, employers, and graduates had the opportunity to share their experiences, perspectives, and contributions regarding the education provided by the programs at Sede Málaga.
These meetings made it possible to identify firsthand the strengths, progress, and challenges of Zootecnia and Ingeniería Forestal, as well as to highlight their impact on the surrounding community and the relevance of their academic offerings to the needs of the region.
The agenda also included a tour of the new facilities at UIS Sede Málaga, including laboratories, a computer classroom, and areas dedicated to university well-being. These facilities represent an institutional commitment to strengthening the conditions for teaching, research, and outreach activities, and are part of the transformation currently taking place at the campus.
“This visit explored the main results, achievements, impacts, and development of the academic programs through the self-assessment and continuous improvement processes carried out over recent years,” stated the coordination team at UIS Sede Málaga.
Following the visit, César Darío Guerrero Santander will analyze the information collected and the assessments gathered during meetings with the different academic groups and stakeholders involved in the programs.
He will subsequently present his findings and conclusions to the Consejo Nacional de Acreditación, which will serve as an input for the corresponding decisions within the process.
For UIS Sede Málaga, this visit represents an opportunity to demonstrate the work carried out by its academic programs and university community over recent years in the areas of quality assurance and continuous improvement.
