The UIS Recognized as a Leader in Technological Innovation in Santander

Premio a la Vanguardia

The research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer promoted by the Industrial University of Santander continue to strengthen their impact on the region and the country. In recognition of this work, the UIS received the “A la Vanguardia” award in the Technological Innovation category, a distinction that honors organizations that lead transformative processes and contribute to the economic and social development of Santander.

The award was accepted by the UIS Vice Rector for Research and Extension, Cristian Blanco Tirado, during the seventh edition of the A la Vanguardia Awards, an initiative organized by Vanguardia through the magazine 500 Empresas Generadoras de Desarrollo en Santander.

This award highlights the UIS’s institutional commitment to scientific and technological development, as well as to generating innovative solutions designed to address the needs of society and strengthen the region’s business and productive ecosystem.

The Technological Innovation category recognizes organizations and institutions that, through concrete actions and results, promote competitiveness, applied research, knowledge transfer, and the transformation of regions through science and technology.

During the award ceremony, the organization highlighted that the UIS has strengthened its leadership in technological innovation through projects that integrate modern infrastructure, scientific research, and digital transformation in the service of education and health.

Entrega de Premio A la Vanguardia

One of the most significant developments is the construction of the Scientific Complex for Health and Life Sciences Research, a facility designed with state-of-the-art technology to address the country’s academic, scientific, and social challenges.

For the UIS, this recognition represents an endorsement of the coordinated work of researchers, professors, students, and support teams from different fields of knowledge, who drive initiatives with social, scientific, and business impact.

“This recognition reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to regional development, the result of years of work aimed at strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship as drivers of social and economic transformation. The UIS stands out not only for generating new knowledge, but also for its ability to translate that knowledge into solutions, processes, and initiatives that positively impact communities, contribute to the region’s growth, and support the country’s development,” noted Cristian Blanco Tirado, Vice Rector for Research and Extension.
