Kelvin James Llanos Gómez, a researcher and doctoral student at the Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza National University in Amazonas, Peru, is on an academic visit to the Industrial University of Santander.

The purpose of his visit is to establish research collaborations and form strategic partnerships with the university.

The doctoral student, who is working on his thesis titled “Identification of the antagonistic mechanisms of action of yeasts against cocoa pathogens,” aims to delve deeper into microorganisms—specifically yeasts—a field led by Professor Mauricio Ramírez of the UIS School of Microbiology.

“It has been a wonderful experience. I am very happy to have seen the laboratories, equipment, infrastructure, and the quality of the people. I hope to join them in October at the Third Colombian Congress of Mycology,” said the researcher.
