UIS to host the 11th Meeting of Korean Studies in Colombia

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) will host the 11th Meeting of Korean Studies in Colombia, with the theme “Colombia-Korea: Biocultural Dialogue for the Sustainability of the Planet.” This event seeks to strengthen cultural and environmental ties between the two nations, which are committed to building a sustainable future.

As part of the meeting, an essay contest entitled “The Role of Academia in Strengthening Relations between Colombia and South Korea” was launched, aimed at students from member institutions of the Association of Korean Studies in Colombia, of which the UIS is a part.

The contest aims to promote academic reflection on the role of higher education in strengthening ties between the two countries.

Test requirements

  • The essay must be original and unpublished, a condition that must be explicitly stated in the submission message.
  • Title: maximum 15 words.
  • Summary and abstract (in Spanish and English): maximum 120 words (the same version in both languages).
  • Length: between 1,500 and 2,000 words (not including summary or abstract).
  • Format:
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Size: 12
    • Line spacing: 1.5
    • Margins: normal
    • Language: Spanish
    • References: APA style (in text and bibliography).

Selection criteria

  1. Originality and creativity: innovative approach and attractive presentation.
  2. Research and content: depth, accuracy, and relevance of sources.
  3. Clarity and coherence: soundness of arguments and fluidity of text.
  4. Structure and style: logical organization (introduction, development, conclusion), grammatical correctness, and application of APA standards.

Awards

  • First place: $2,000,000 voucher and certificate of recognition.
  • Second place: $1,500,000 voucher and certificate of recognition.
  • Third place: $500,000 voucher and certificate of recognition.
