UIS Malaga Campus joins reforestation strategy led by the Government of Santander

The Government of Santander in the framework of unified action and the event “Give a tree to Santander for Christmas” socializes with the participants the reforestation strategy that will be led throughout the department.

Professor Ricardo Oviedo of the Forestry Engineering program of the Universidad Industrial de Santander – Sede Malaga, participated in the event led by the Government in the framework of Unified Action “At Christmas give a tree to Santander”.

The objective is to plant 87 thousand trees of native species in the department on December 6 as the initial phase of the reforestation strategy. In the space that had the participation of public and private entities, the UIS professor, Ricardo Oviedo, highlighted the role of the University in the silvicultural planning that this type of initiatives require at the departmental level.

“It is important to highlight the articulation of the University in these strategies for the conservation of the ecosystem. In this sense, the UIS Malaga Office will accompany subsequent meetings to establish aspects such as the list of species, quality of plant material and planting techniques, among other contributions,” said Professor Ricardo Oviedo.

Participants from different institutions that are linked to the reforestation strategy of the Government of Santander in which UIS Malaga will also be present and will provide support and advice throughout the process.

Through this campaign in which different sectors will participate, among them, the educational sector, it seeks to achieve the first massive restoration in areas that have been environmentally affected in the different municipalities of Santander.

In this way, the Universidad Industrial de Santander continues to reiterate its commitment to the preservation of forests throughout the region.
