During World Heart Day, the Specialized Health Unit of the Industrial University of Santander, UISALUD, held the Hearts in Motion event for its users, with the aim of promoting healthy habits and lifestyles as protective factors against noncommunicable diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, which are highly prevalent and represent one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the population.

During the activity, blood pressure screening was carried out and recommendations were given on physical activity, stress management, sleep hygiene, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. Guidelines on healthy eating were also provided, emphasizing the healthy plate strategy as a practical tool for achieving a balanced and sustainable diet on a daily basis.
Isabella González, PDA of Nursing at UISALUD, highlighted the importance of this type of training activity:
“These workshops allow people to understand not only the what and the why, but also the how. Through practical exercises and simple guidelines, we seek to enable users to apply what they have learned in their context and in their daily lives, thus strengthening their self-care and preventing the negative impact of cardiovascular disease on their quality of life.”

With these types of spaces, UISALUD reaffirms its commitment to promoting health and preventing disease, providing users with effective tools to keep their hearts pumping and enjoy a healthier life.
