With the aim of creating a space for dialogue, reflection, educational innovation and the exchange of experiences on teaching practices, the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office held the ‘Teaching with Purpose’ Pedagogical Innovation Event at the Agora of the School of Human Sciences. The event was organized as part of the UIS Teaching Mission 2030.
The event brought together adjunct professors from the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) to discuss current and relevant topics in higher education, including artificial intelligence, classroom climate, teaching excellence, and UIS identity.
Program featured lectures and presentations on the progress of the ‘Classroom Climate’ strategy. This initiative is part of the UIS Teaching Mission 2030 actions aimed at supporting professors in implementing the UIS 21 Pedagogical Model, which places students at the center of the learning process, while strengthening practices that contribute to comprehensive education.

Educational Innovation
During the event, Professor Daniel Sierra Bueno highlighted the importance of approaching teaching with a clear sense of purpose:
“Each of us, as professors, has the opportunity to contribute in our own way to transforming lives. That purpose is reflected in how we embrace the UIS Pedagogical Model, while maintaining academic excellence and the academic rigor required of us, and by being experts in our respective fields. That is why we play an important role in the academic community as adjunct professors.”

María Victoria Jaimes Becerra, a professor at the School of Law, shared her perspective on the event:
“I thought it was very important because we live in a constantly changing world. As adjunct professors, we often work outside the University and sometimes do not have enough time to become fully involved or reflect on such important issues as classroom climate. This is essential for us to connect with the humanity of our students and with the University’s vision.”
In this way, ‘Teaching with Purpose’ is becoming an initiative that recognizes the role of adjunct professors within the university community and encourages collective reflection on the challenges and opportunities arising from the transformation of teaching and learning practices.
