UIS opens 2026-2 Outbound Mobility Call: 133 spots in 25 countries

Pilar Castro - directora RELEXT

The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), through its Office of International Relations (RELEXT), has officially announced the opening of the 2026-2 Public and Open Call for Outbound Student Mobility, aimed at undergraduate students interested in academic exchanges, research internships, and double-degree programs at national and international institutions.

The call, which will remain open from February 26 to March 5, 2026, is framed within the Student Academic Mobility Regulations (Resolution 1290 of 2024 and Agreement 009 of 2024) and offers 49 international agreements and 133 available spots in 25 countries, consolidating UIS’s leadership in internationalization processes.

Highlighted destinations include Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France, the United States, and Germany.

High-impact strategic programs

The call features strategic research and advanced training programs. One of them is UREP-C at Purdue University, designed for students of Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemistry, who will have the opportunity to complete research internships during Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Likewise, students in Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Microbiology, Physics, and Engineering Education may apply for internships at the University of Florida between July and November 2026.

In Europe, the KOSPIE 2026/27 program, in partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), will allow engineering students to undertake a comprehensive experience in Germany that includes an intensive German language course, an academic semester, and a professional internship.

In addition, the call includes double-degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Law, and Chemical Engineering at universities in Germany and France.

Financial support

UIS Director of International Relations Liliana del Pilar Castro emphasized that the university is not only expanding academic opportunities but also strengthening financial support.

“Today we are very happy to open our first 2026 call for Outbound Mobility. We have 133 spots available in 25 different countries. It is worth highlighting that UIS is one of the few universities that provides significant funding per student to cover settlement expenses,” she stated.

This financial support is allocated according to the student’s grade point average and socioeconomic status, and includes airfare, medical insurance, visa expenses, settlement costs, and living expenses.

Additionally, as an institutional incentive, students who successfully complete their mobility experience and validate their academic activities may access a 90% discount on tuition for the immediately following semester, in accordance with current regulations.

For María Juliana Maestre, a UIS student, these opportunities are transformative. “Many times we are not aware of the possibilities we have to go abroad and immerse ourselves in new cultures and languages. I think it is very important for students to want to discover themselves in other places, build new relationships, and grow academically,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, Samuel Hernández highlighted the formative value of these experiences. “I find it very interesting that the university explains what it means to leave the country. Going abroad involves adapting to new cultures and learning new methodologies. That broadens our perspectives and allows us to view knowledge from different angles,” he said.

With this call, UIS reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, international cooperation, and the global projection of its student community, strengthening its role as one of Colombia’s leading public universities in academic mobility.
