The Universidad Industrial de Santander held a special welcome event for the students beginning their studies in the three undergraduate programs offered at the Floridablanca campus. The event allowed the new members of the university community to learn about the services, facilities, and institutional resources that will support their educational journey in this municipality.
The initiative was part of the complementary activities to the orientation process that the University conducts with students admitted for the 2026-2 academic year. On this occasion, students from the Biomedical Engineering, Data Science Engineering, and Cultural and Creative Business Administration programs participated.
“Personally, I thought it was a great experience. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us young people to access public higher education. I’d never been to the Floridablanca campus before, and I think it’s very beautiful and well-equipped,” said Santiago Carvajal Herrera, a data science engineering student.
More than just an informational session, the welcome event included a team-based scavenger hunt, where students took on various challenges related to institutional services, campus operations, and university life.
“It’s a very dynamic activity because it’s not limited to lectures. They gave us different challenges to help us get to know the Floridablanca campus, and it was also an opportunity to connect with students from other academic programs,” said Sharith Gutiérrez, a Data Science Engineering student.
Participants also highlighted the physical and technological infrastructure of this UIS campus, designed to strengthen students’ academic education and holistic development.
“I was surprised by the facilities. I had never been to the campus before, and this visit allowed us to explore all the spaces we have at UIS Floridablanca,” said Adriana Trujillo, a student in Cultural and Creative Business Administration.
According to the academic calendar of the Industrial University of Santander, classes for the 2026-2 semester will begin on Monday, August 3.
