The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has officially begun its participation in the 2026 ASCUN Sports Games, competing in the regional phase as part of the Eastern Node (Nodo Oriente), alongside other higher education institutions in the region.

This year, UIS is represented by 14 delegations competing across a wide range of disciplines, including chess, athletics, basketball (including 3×3), ultimate frisbee, football (soccer), futsal, judo, karate-do, weightlifting, swimming, rugby sevens, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, and volleyball, as well as beach volleyball. This broad participation highlights the university’s strong commitment to student-athlete development and the strengthening of its sports programs.

In addition to its competitive role, UIS also serves as a host institution for several events during the tournament. Key venues such as the Estadio 1 de Marzo and the Coliseo UIS are hosting multiple competitions, positioning the university as an important hub for regional university sports.

Each delegation is made up of athletes who have demonstrated high competitive standards during preparatory stages, generating positive expectations for their performance. The support of coaching staff and institutional backing has been essential in consolidating these teams.

The ASCUN Sports Games, in their regional phase within the Eastern Node, represent not only a competitive but also an opportunity to promote values such as teamwork, discipline, and fair play. Through its participation, UIS aims not only to achieve strong results but also to showcase the region’s athletic talent on a broader stage.
