
Students from UPTC paid an academic visit to UIS to learn about educational management and student support strategies led by the Academic Excellence System (SEA-UIS).
The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) welcomed ninth-semester students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychopedagogy with an Emphasis on Educational Counseling program at the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC) to its main campus in Bucaramanga, as part of their Research-Based Teaching Practicum in Educational Management.

The purpose of the academic visit was to learn about institutional experiences and strategies related to university educational management and the student support processes implemented at UIS.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore various initiatives aimed at strengthening academic retention, holistic well-being, and the development of skills for university life.



Upon arriving at the Bucaramanga main campus, visitors attended a presentation led by Claudia Milena Ortiz Gómez, director of the Academic Excellence System (SEA-UIS), who outlined the key strategies implemented by her department to support the educational journey of the university’s students.
During the session, various programs and initiatives focused on academic support, skills development, student counseling, and psychosocial support were discussed initiatives that are part of institutional processes aimed at promoting student retention and academic success within the university community.
“It is very rewarding to share the experiences, programs, and services that the SEA offers through its four areas of support academic, socioeconomic, neurocognitive, and biopsychosocial demonstrating the institution’s commitment to holistic education and student well-being,” said Claudia Milena Ortiz Gómez, director of the Academic Excellence System (SEA-UIS).

Afterward, the students took a guided tour of various areas of the university campus. Among the places they visited were the Central Library, the Counseling Center, and the student dormitories, where they learned about some of the services and support programs that UIS offers its students.
During the tour, they also had the opportunity to explore various iconic areas of the campus and experience the university’s dynamic atmosphere, which characterizes the institution, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and student well-being.
Through these types of academic exchanges, UIS continues to strengthen inter-institutional ties and promote the sharing of experiences and best practices in educational management and student support.
