Professor from the School of Physical Therapy Receives Recognition at the First Congress on Research and Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy

Profesora Carolina

Carolina Ramírez Ramírez, a professor at the School of Physical Therapy and a researcher with the Movement, Harmony, and Life (MAV) group, won second place in the oral presentation category at the First International Congress on Musculoskeletal Research and Physical Therapy, held on May 8 and 9 in Bogotá.

The event, organized by the Faculty of Life Sciences and Well-being at the University of La Sabana, served as the venue where Professor Ramírez presented the paper “Clinical improvement is not accompanied by normalization of the gastrocnemius architecture following acute lateral ankle sprain: a controlled longitudinal study.”

This work presented the preliminary results of her postdoctoral fellowship in the Rehabilitation Sciences program at the University of Brasília, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Joao Luiz Durigan. The research provides crucial evidence that symptomatic recovery following an ankle sprain does not always coincide with the structural recovery of muscle tissue—a finding of great relevance for clinical practice.

This recognition not only highlights Professor Carolina’s work but also reaffirms our institution’s commitment to research and international cooperation in health.
