Representatives from the Korean Technology Parks Association (KTPA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) began a three-day visit on Tuesday to the Guatiguará Technology Park (PTG), located at the UIS Guatiguará campus. During the visit, they will review the progress of the cooperation project aimed at strengthening the park’s capabilities in information technology and will define the next steps for its implementation.

The first meeting was chaired by UIS Rector Hernán Porras Díaz and included the participation of Chang In-Sung, Ph.D., executive vice president of the KTPA. During the session, the working groups reviewed the installed technological equipment and the planned actions to continue the project’s development.

“After a 24-hour trip, it has been a source of pride to tour the university’s facilities. We came to inspect the project’s equipment and have confirmed that it is properly installed. The rector’s vision gives me confidence in the success of this initiative and in the Park’s ability to sustain its progress once the cooperation ends,” said Chang In-Sung.

The executive vice president emphasized that the exchange of experiences is one of the benefits of the partnership. “This isn’t about lecturing, but about sharing the experiences we’ve gained in the past. We’re going to transfer this knowledge to your university so that you, in turn, can replicate it and expand it to other institutions,” he noted.

Vanessa Quiroga Arciniegas, director of Knowledge Transfer at the UIS, explained that during the three-day session, participants will review the achievements made and outline the next steps for the project.

Technical cooperation project CO-T1754 involves the provision of technological equipment and services, the training of personnel, and support for companies and startups interested in adopting digital technologies. These actions aim to expand the range of services offered by the PTG and contribute to the development of the digital industrial ecosystem in Santander and Colombia.

“This cooperation runs through 2028, so we have a long road ahead of us to work collaboratively on the launch and operation of the information technology entrepreneurship and business sector,” said Quiroga Arciniegas. The initiative also plans to establish testing centers and services for business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals interested in training in these areas.

The project has already launched training and support activities for companies in the region. The next phase involves the implementation of technology and services that will be made available to the business sector. The visit will allow the UIS, KTPA, and the IDB to coordinate these developments and identify new opportunities for technology-based companies.
