Students from different semesters and subjects in the Microbiology Bioanalysis program attended the XVII Colombian Congress on Infectious Diseases, CCEI 2025.
Likewise, students who are members of SIBAC, the Bacteriology Research Seedbed, participated in the congress thanks to the resources allocated by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research and Extension for the UIS seedbeds.
The students learned about antimicrobial management, vaccination, and new microbial species that are being identified thanks to metagenomics; they also participated in a knowledge contest. All of this allows them to recognize the learning they have gained during their studies, understand many of the cutting-edge topics that were presented, and establish contacts for the future.
It is important to highlight the training of future professionals and their participation in this type of event. This will allow for better collaboration between microbiologists, bioanalysts, and the medical community in the clinical and research fields.
