The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) celebrates the appointment of Dr. Magda Yolanda Wilson Silva as the new rector of the Fundación Colegio UIS. With a solid background in the educational field, Dr. Wilson assumes this important challenge with a firm commitment to enhance educational quality and the welfare of students.
“I am excited about this new challenge to continue working for the education of children and adolescents in the country; in the 24 years of my professional life I have done so significantly,” expressed Dr. Wilson upon receiving the news of her appointment. Her career has stood out for her dedication and ability to implement policies that promote innovation and respect for children’s rights.
Dr. Wilson has a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in English language, with specializations in labor and education law. Her experience includes roles as academic vice chancellor and executive director, which has led her to lead key initiatives in the education sector. She has been an active advocate for children’s rights, ensuring inclusive and constructive learning environments.
Referring to the UIS, the new president highlighted its commitment to the public, noting that the Fundación Colegio UIS is a “child” of the university. She stressed the importance of inter-institutional collaboration to strengthen both basic and secondary education as well as the higher quality offered by UIS.
Dr. Wilson also expressed her affection for the UIS community, inviting all to join in a collective effort to develop a more robust and inclusive educational project. “I have a special affection for the UIS community for allowing me to take on this great challenge,” she said.
