Guatiguará Technology Park, a benchmark in the articulation between academia, science, and technology

With the purpose of learning about successful experiences in the integration of academia, science, technology, and innovation, executives from Surcolombiana University carried out an institutional visit to the Guatiguará Technology Park, located at the UIS Guatiguará campus of the Industrial University of Santander.

The visit focused on the exchange of knowledge and best practices related to the creation and operation of scientific and technological ecosystems, with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of similar initiatives in other higher education institutions and promoting cooperation in research, technological development, and university outreach.

During the tour, the rector of Surcolombiana University, Rubén Darío Valbuena Villarreal, along with his executive team, learned firsthand about the scientific infrastructure of the Guatiguará Technology Park, as well as its installed capacities and management model, highlighting this experience as a key reference for regional development.

“The outcome of the visit is truly very positive. Our objective has been fully achieved, since we are currently working on implementing a technology park at our university. We came to UIS to learn about its experience, and today we confirm that it is a consolidated reality with a very interesting project. We congratulate them, because it is a valuable benchmark for starting this process in our region,” expressed Rector Valbuena Villarreal.

The visit opened a space for dialogue and collaboration between both institutions, aimed at sharing knowledge and exploring future joint actions to strengthen research, technological development, and university outreach.
