This Thursday, March 19, 2026, the electoral process was held to elect the student representative to the Consejo Académico of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, (UIS) for the 2026–2028 term.
After the close of the voting process, which took place online between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the results were as follows:
- Blank vote: 1,992 votes, equivalent to 63.178%
- Ciro Ernesto Pérez Vargas: 602 votes, equivalent to 19.093%
- Cristian Díaz Franco: 559 votes, equivalent to 17.729%
- Total votes: 3,153
With this majority decision in favor of the blank vote, the electoral process must be repeated, in accordance with the current regulations that recognize this outcome as a legitimate expression of the student community’s demand for new representation options.
The call for this election was issued through Resolution No. 0110 of February 2, 2026, signed by the Rectoría UIS.
UIS reaffirms its commitment to the democratic participation of its students and will soon announce the new timeline for the electoral process, in which the candidates registered in this election will not be allowed to participate.
